The Self-Care in Spain Survey is an initiative designed to examine the habits and perceptions of the Spanish population regarding self-care. According to the findings, 85.3% of Spaniards believe that self-care contributes to improved healthcare, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of taking an active role in one’s health.
Objectives
- Assess the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours of the Spanish population around health and self-care
- Identify barriers and opportunities to foster a responsible and sustainable self-care culture
- Provide strategic data to inform public policies and sector-wide actions in prevention, health education, and healthcare system improvement

Key Activities and Approach
- Development of a national barometer summarising key data on self-care habits and perceptions in Spain
- Creation of regional reports for each of Spain’s 17 autonomous communities, offering localised insights
- Topics covered in the survey include: general knowledge of self-care, health and wellbeing, daily self-care habits, self-care in the workplace, self-care in leisure and recreational settings, environmental and educational influences, healthcare system and future outlook
Impact and Result
- Over 20 journalists from both general and specialised media attended the survey presentation event (February 2025)
- The initiative generated over 258 media features across 157 outlets, including television, radio, news agencies, and social media
- Featured in leading national media and news platforms
- Several interviews were broadcast on major TV and radio programmes
- Strategic visibility during key moments, such as: International Women’s Day, with a press release resulting in 22 media mentions; Summer travel season, highlighting links between travel habits and self-care awareness
- Reinforced anefp’s position as a go-to source on self-care for the media and broader public
